How ratings work
Every player has a single Score that reflects their skill level.
Your Score updates after every game, based on who you played and whether you won. Beating stronger players raises it more.
New players' scores settle over their first 2–3 tournaments, then move more slowly.
Take a break longer than two months and your Score starts easing down, roughly a point a month, slowing over time. It never drops below a floor, and it stops falling the moment you play again. Coming back is far quicker than the slide: a single tournament of convincing wins usually recovers a whole year of it.
